A little while back I was chillin with the DJcity.com guys and I showed them how I deejay with Ableton live and an APC40. They were very intrigued and wanted to do a feature. I was really hesitant for a handful of reasons but mainly because I still change my approach to using Ableton live as a deejay platform almost weekly. There is no right or wrong answer as to how to use it, how to organize songs, how to setup effects, etc. When they asked me who my mentor was, and who showed me how to do it, I told them I didnt know anyone who deejayed open format sets with Ableton.
After a couple months of waiting, I went back into the office and told the guys that I had thought about it and I was ready to let the cat out of the bag (or something like that). Anyways, I couldnt be happier with the quality of Kenny Brown’s work. He really did a great job coming up with a good concept and capturing my sound/style in a fun creative way.
Note: They told me to have a “routine” prepared, but I dont do routines, so I made this up while I was in their office.
